Do you remember hot summer evenings and the sound of crickets, canons, and galloping horses? Do you remember fine acting on an illuminated outdoor stage? Then you remember outdoor theatre and southwest Ohio has a wonderful outdoor theatre tradition. Beginning in the 1950’s, the Antioch Shakespeare Festival produced the entire canon of Shakespeare’s plays at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The Festival was an outdoor summer theatre and became known as “Shakespeare Under the Stars”. From 1982 through 2007, Greene County, Ohio was home to the historical outdoor drama Blue Jacket which attracted 1.1 million visitors. Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc was founded in 2009 by a group of individuals dedicated to the restoration of outdoor theatre. It is estimated that outdoor theatre will have an economic impact of $750,000 each summer for our community.

To begin, Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc needs to raise $5,000 for the Institute of Outdoor Theatre at East Carolina University to perform an initial site visit. This is a first step that will lead us on our journey to keep the outdoor theatre tradition alive.

Project Costs:
